Heart Start.

On the 26th of March 2009, ten members of the club went to Barrow Fire Station to take part in the Heart Start course.
The evening course is accredited to the British Heart Foundation and the Resuscitation Council (UK).
The course was run by members of Red Watch.
The evening started with an introduction followed by a DVD showing different situations and how to deal with them, once the first short clip was shown, it’s then time to do a bit of hands on, we were paired off and we practiced putting each other in to the recovery position.
Following a few more situation film clips some more practical instruction took place and this covered Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and an introduction into the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The evening was finished off by learning how to deal with someone who is suffering from a heart attack, also choking and how to deal with CPR in children.
As this is an accredited course everyone who participated will receives a certificate of attendance.
